RUN THE GOOD RACE
I have volunteered to bake a wedding cake for a family member. I am not a professional baker and I have never made a wedding cake. I have discovered that it is a daunting task.
Relationships are like making your first wedding cake when you are not a professional baker. You give it your best shot; you seek advise from those who have gone before you and from professionals; You gather your equipment; You decide on recipes; You accept help from those willing to invest their time and effort.
At the end of the day, you strive for perfection but understand that it probably won't be all you hope for, all you envisioned. Giving it your best effort with a loving heart is what you do; and if there is time, you improve on your efforts; learn from your mistakes; don't give up just because the cake "fell".
I encourage you to run the good race. As long as there is breath in your body, don't give up. Relationships are important to our well being. After all, God, Himself, gave us the Ten Commandments, which guide us in our relationships with Him and others.
You are encouraged to leave a comment. Let us know what major undertaking you have engaged in and how it turned out.
