LIBERTY FAMILY DENTAL REVIEW

MY EXPERIENCE AT LIBERTY FAMILY DENTAL

I had my tooth filled today at the dentist's office, Liberty Family Dental.  What an experience it was!  I am not one of those thoughtless people who just fumble through life; I am an informed consumer.  This was not my first time to see a dentist, so I am fully aware of how the experience should have unfolded.

First of all, I accept responsibility for not pre-medicating myself before I arrived.  It is, after all, a dentist visit.  I should have known better.

The lady who called me back did not pronounce my name correctly, even though she had my file in her hands and looked at it.  Even the second time it was pronounced incorrectly.  I can look over things like this, normally.

I followed her back and was seated.  The Dental Assistant came in, greeted me, and began taking my blood pressure.  Before the machine posted a reading, she was opening the instruments.  What if the pressure is too high to have this work done today?  Are they going to charge me for those instruments?  Blood pressure reading was high.  I knew I should have pre-medicated.  What was I thinking?!?
The doctor came in and we conversed a bit, which had a calming effect on me.  O. K.  This won't be so bad.  I hope he is aware of the blood pressure reading.   He confirmed which tooth needed attention and didn't waste any time in going right to work.  He had my mouth numb.  I could barely tell that he was touching my face.  This is great!  I need to spit, though.

As he went to work, the Assistant had that stream of water going and my head was lowed to accommodate the Dentist and all I could think of was "is this what water boarding feels like?"  Normally, the suction hose is hooked on the lip while the water is flowing into your mouth; that wasn't done here.
My lips began uncontrolled tremors; my hands began uncontrolled tremors.  Can the Doctor see the tremors?  Hang in there!  He gave encouraging words indicating the procedure was about finished.  I felt that I was drowning.  Then it was over.  All done.  Look!  I made it through!  Yeah!

I quickly went up front to settle the debt.  I was asked how it went.  I showed them my trembling hands.  I was quoted a price for the service.  I advised the Lady that there was a different price quoted at my first visit to Liberty Family Dental.  Another Lady came to her rescue and assured me of that the price I was quoted for today was correct.  I let her know the figure I was quoted at the other visit.  She said it wasn't documented and that the new price was what I would be charged.  I didn't bring the original quote in with me.  So, we discussed it a bit and the second Lady relented to the price originally quoted.

There was no "post procedure care" instruction sheet given.

Wow!  I can't see me going back there.  Does the word "training" mean anything?  The manager really needs to get some training for these employees.

The good news is that the procedure itself didn't hurt and the work looks great!  I'm not sure how functional it is.  I guess time will tell.
