  1. I remember my Mother walking every where she wanted or needed to go as I was growing up. She walked us to church, to the swimming pool across town, she even walked to work and back home after work.
She gave me determination. She determined that not driving was not an obstacle she could not overcome. Not only did she go anywhere she wanted, she made it seem that walking everwhere she went was just as natural as breathing

  2. Responsibility
my Mother was faced with five kids and a 55 gallon galvanized can of pinto beans. she did not walk out on us. she rolled up her sleeves and worked hard, leaving us home alone, so we would have a place to sleep and food in our bellies. she never accepted welfare.

my Mother shared with anyone who asked. it didn't matter that she didn't have anything, what she did have was yours if you needed it.

  4. My mother has given me the blessing of knowing what ever I did, I was loved! Although I was the last of a 5 kids, she always made me feel I was #1. She instilled in me grit and determination and the confidence to do what ever I wanted. I also raised 3 sons with no child support for the first 10 years and never once did I think of signing up for foodstamps or welfare, I worked a full time job and 2 part time! I never asked for help, I helped myself! My Mother is my rock in my life and always has been. She has always put herself last when it came to her family. But she will always be first in my eyes. I worship the ground she walks on and thank God for letting me have her in my for as long as he has, although she has never had an easy life, I have never heard her complain or feel sorry for herself. I Love You Mom . . . .

  5. happy in whatever situation

We girls wore hand-me-downs most of our life growing up at home. I was told later in life that most of the town believed that we were Pentecostal because of the way we dressed. All I remember is that we had clothes to wear and Mother cleaned them on a wash board and then with a ringer washing machine, which was dangerous.

It is my honor and my pleasure to serve my Mother coffee every morning. I love being roommates with her.
