APRIL FOOLS
This year, on April 1st, I posted on my facebook page that I won a New Chevrolet 2500 crew cab pickup. It is "catch-me" red. Those who know me are aware that my truck has nearly a half-million miles on it. The post started out catching some by surprise, but before long, the family started saying, "April Fools". So, I thought it was such a great idea, that I e-mailed Robbins Chevrolet to let them know I gave them free advertising. It was an e-mail. You never know if those things go straight to the "spam" folder, or what.
ROBBINS CHEVROLET
A few days later, I received an e-mail from the internet sales department congratulating me for winning the truck. How stupid! Does anyone at any business ever know what is going on in their company? Don't you think something like that would be posted everywhere at their business? Really! At the very least, they should not have sent any response. It is well known that if you keep your mouth shut, no one knows how stupid you are.
After investigating my claim and discovering I won nothing, the salesman should at the very least have e-mailed me back and invited me for coffee to get to know who it was who gave them free advertisement. He may have even sweetened the pot to lure me in for this cup of coffee by saying, "maybe there is something we can do for you since you were so generous to us."
The problem is that no one wants to put any effort into their jobs. If they can't learn that I didn't win that truck, why would I trust them to "go the extra mile" for me if I were to BUY a truck from them. Thanks but no thanks.
What are your thoughts?
