MOTHER'S DAY 2016
We observe Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. I believe honoring your mother is a good idea. I believe going to church on Christmas is a good thing. If you only do these things one day a year, I feel sorry for you.
This year, I have contacted my children and specifically asked them not to spend money on me for this day. Each of my children give to me all year long in a number of ways. I am far from forgotten by them. They honor me with their presence, with gifts, taking me for meals, etc. I am a practical woman and I could care less about a "holiday" geared to grow the business of greeting card companies and flower shops.
I have asked my children to sow the money they would have spent on me back into the family: we have a set of twins from one son, we just added two more girls to the family of another son, my sister is in a fight for her life against cancer and has added expenses related to the treatments, etc. I have no needs that my Father in Heaven has not met. It would honor me more if they spent the money where it would do good in a practical way.
You are invited to join us in honoring your moms in this way, even if she has gone on. Every gift sent to my sister or donated to this ministry is so appreciated.
