MEAT SAUCE FOR SPAGHETTI



  • 1 1/2 - 2 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 medium bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 lb sliced mushrooms
  • 3 - 4 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes or 2  small fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic or garlic powder
  • 2 - 3 teaspoons oregano 
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
In a large pot 3 qt.), brown ground chuck, onion, and bell pepper and mushrooms until meat is cooked.  Pour off excess grease.  Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, salt, garlic, oregano, black pepper, and bay leaf.  Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.  Remove bay leaf and pour over cooked spaghetti of your choice.
